Voting Question: What is the beginning pay for a new and experienced Starbucks barista?

Right now I work as a courtesy clerk at Pavilions/Safeway in Newport Beach, CA and am trying to transfer to the Starbucks department in the store. If I do get to work in the Starbucks I will be there for several months before I apply to an actual Starbucks. If I get the job at the actual Starbucks as a barista, would my time at SB in Pavilions count as "experience" and would I initially get payed more than if I hadn't worked in the Safeway owned SB?...
